Adventure novel, in the typical style of Jules Verne, where he mixes fiction with some scientific data. The story begins with a group of explorers who descend into the crater of a volcano in Iceland, thus penetrating into the depths of the earth. The exploration carried out by Professor NN, his nephew, and a guide is narrated in detail, mixing fantasy, mystery, and science fiction, in a lively and suggestive style. Unlike the author's other books, this is less realistic, and many of its forecasts were not accurate; but it is still a good adventure story.
