It is a dystopian novel of youthful fantasy set in the future. The human race has almost disappeared. The world is in the hands of a similar but different species: they do not externalize emotions, cannot swim or know how to, sunlight kills them… and they are carnivores, with tearing canine teeth. Their preferred meat is that of hepers, (humans).

A human lives among the different ones (his name will appear late in the novel) camouflaged as one of them. The governor decides on a heper hunt, and the human is chosen by ballot to participate in it. His world totters. The novel is very entertaining, with a racing style, and the topic, almost always unexpected, is constantly surprising. The exemplary protagonist is a virtuous boy, courageous, but liable to getting discouraged like anyone else. A strong adolescent in a 2010 novel is very advisable for the youth.
