Harry Bosch is a private investigator who served as a police officer for 30 years, and who lends a hand, selflessly, to the local police of a town in California. In this  intriguing thriller, he must solve two cases simultaneously: one for the police, which deals with an investigation of an elusive serial rapist, and another professional, in which an old multimillionaire orders him to search for his heir, the fruit of a relationship from his youth. Like other novels of this genre, the action develops with tension, intrigue and suspense. Although there are some scenes of certain violence, and the plot is rather sordid, it does not linger at morbid descriptions.
